Blood Sure Is Thicker Than Water: MADEINTYO, 24hrs & Private Club Records

It is probably safe to say that the name MADEINTYO rings a bell for any millennial with internet access and a slight idea of what is popping in contemporary hip-hop at the moment. For those living next door to the pineapple under the sea (under a rock), 25-year-old ATL-based Malcolm Davis, Aka. MADEINTYO, is the creative brain behind the 2015 hit „Uber Everywhere“, „Skateboard P“ and co-founder of „Private Club Records“. Making headlines not only for his fresh and unique sound, but also his crisp sense of fashion and surprisingly dope skating skills, the slight sense of mystique surrounding MADEINTYO seems to have a lot to do with his steady relevance in todays rap game.

Mr. Tokyo’s latest visual for the remix to his hit ‚Skateboard P‘ features none other than Detroit’s own Big Sean and pays homage to musical wonder child, Pharrell Williams (watch link below).

Though MADEINTYO may have kicked in the door to the industry first, he sure didn’t walk through it on his own. 24hrs, MADEINTYO’s older biological brother and co-founder of Private Club Records, followed in shortly. Many of his fans knew him as Royce Rizzy prior to him launching new music under the pseudonym 24hrs, proclaiming this as the „death of Royce Rizzy„. He has already generated a major buzz in the industry and collaborated with some of the rap games‘ hottest names such as Gucci Mane, Ty Dolla $ign, Post Malone, Wiz Khalifa and Yo Gotti.

This is impressive not only because of the speed at which he has popped off (his first song as 24hrs was released in Dec. 2015), but taking into consideration that he released his entire 1st EP and the majority of his catalogue incognito, revealing his actual identity to his fans around late 2016.

Ima legend baby !

Giving the fans an opportunity to fall in love with solely the sonic quality of what the artist brings to the table seems to be a simple and organic recipe that works. Artists like The Weeknd and Nav have already set the blueprint when it comes to creating and maintaining a mysterious persona behind the art before ultimately putting a face to their music.

always money involved

By their late teens the brothers had already seen a great deal of the world growing up in Japan (where the name MADEINTYO originated), Hawaii and different parts of the U.S. before setting up camp in the ATL and LA.

With MADEINTYO‘S first two albums You Are Forgiven and Thank You Mr. Tokyo as well as 24’s Open EP dropping last year,  and ’24 Dollas‘, a collaborative EP with Ty Dolla $ign supposedly being in the works it’s safe to say that the two brothers have started off with a nice stride.
